About Us

We are working to keep the endangered Newfoundland Pony breed alive and thriving.

The Experience

Your experience with the Newfoundland Ponies at the idyllic seaside Pony Sanctuary on Change Islands will be life-changing.

Children and adults will get to experience this critically endangered breed 'up close and personal.’ Walk them, feed them, ride them, love them.

The Newfoundland Pony is the only surviving native purebred pony breed on the North American continent so these ponies are truly a Newfoundland and national treasure.

Ways You Can Help

Do you love ponies? Want to be part of saving a critically endangered breed and have a great time doing it? Then why wait? Start planning your visit now.

Please reach out via email, phone or text if you would like to arrange a visit. We would love to meet you and have you meet the ponies. They like the attention from our visitors.

Your visit, support, and/or donation will help the sanctuary keep up with the mountain of expenses for day-to-day feeding, management, breeding, veterinary care, and barn expenses (e.g. electrical, maintenance, etc.).

Specific ways you can help:

  • Visit: Interest in Newfoundland ponies is a key to saving the breed. Your visit will be fun for you and important to the ponies’ future.

  • Spread the Word: Let other people know about your visit. If you have a friend that loves horses, send them a link to our website, YouTube page or Facebook site.

  • Sponsor: For only $25 you can buy some hay to feed the ponies. Or, you could be responsible for helping save the ponies by committing to paying expenses of your favourite pony for a year.

  • Donate: Any donation, large or small will help with the enormous expenses involved with the feeding and care of these special ponies.
